  4. To access the documentation and sources

  7. This CDROM contains *much* more information that we can print in this
  8. booklet. The first thing you should do after mounting the CDROM is to read
  9. the real documentation, which you will find in the file README.LEMIS in the
  10. top-level directory on the CDROM. Further documentation can be found in the
  11. directory *DOCUMENTATION*, and the sources for the packages are in
  12. *SOURCE*.  In each directory, a file *README.LEMIS* will give further
  13. information.

  15. To access these files from the desktop, double-click on *Disks-etc*. When
  16. the folder menu appears, double-click on *cdrom1*. The top-level folder
  17. will be displayed.

  19. To mount the CDROM as a file system
  20. ***********************************

  22. Alternatively, you can mount the CDROM as a file system. It will then
  23. appear just like another disk, and you can then access the files with
  24. normal UNIX tools.

  26. To mount the CDROM as a file system, start a terminal window as super-user
  27. and enter:

  29. From the Desktop, select (double click on) *Accessories*.
  30. In the Accessories menu, select (double click on) *Terminal*.
  31. A terminal window will appear. At the terminal prompt, type
  32.  
  33.    $ su                                *Become super-user
  34.    Password:                           *Enter password*
  35.    # mkdir /cdrom                      *make the cdrom directory*
  36.    # mount -F cdfs -r /dev/cd0 /cdrom  *mount the CDROM*

  38. If the CDROM is mounted, you can also install the software with the
  39. command

  41. $ pkgadd -d /cdrom

  79. How to install the software.
  80.  
  81. This CDROM can be used in two different ways: either install the software
  82. with the standard tools, or link the files on the CDROM to your existing
  83. file systems. The documentation on the CD will give you more details on how
  84. to do each of these -- see inside this booklet for further details.

  86. To install a package
  87.  
  88. 1. From the Desktop, select (double click on) *Accessories*.
  89. 2. In the Accessories menu, select (double click on) *Terminal*.
  90. 3. A terminal window will appear. Depending on your
  91.    preferences, the prompt may be different. Normally you can expect a
  92.    *$* symbol. When the prompt appears, type
  93.  
  94.    *pkgadd -d cdrom1*
  95.  
  96. 4. At the prompt, insert the CDROM in the drive and press the Enter key.  A
  97. list of all the packages will appear on the screen. You can choose to
  98. install *all* or specific packages. Enter the abbreviated names or numbers
  99. of the packages you want, separated by spaces.
